Scott Garland offers consultation and transactional services in real estate transactions, land use, zoning and development projects, business formations and general business advice, estate planning, and construction contract review and advice.
Scott has represented numerous buyers and sellers in real estate transactions in western Wyoming and Eastern Idaho, conducting or assisting with buyer due diligence investigations, title issues, and related matters. Scott has represented landowners and developers before county and municipal planning, zoning and building departments and the political bodies within those arenas that approve real estate developments. Scott also regularly represents clients in the formation of business entities and also represents clients in dealings with financial institutions that loan money for real estate development and business transactions.
In addition to real estate and business formation clients, Scott’s clients include or have included local banks, local and regional small and intermediate sized businesses; local homeowner and condominium owners associations.
Scott also has experience with State agencies and Federal land management agencies that may be involved in real estate and/or business permit matters such as the U. S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, the Wyoming Game & Fish Department, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office, the Wyoming Department of Transportation, and other State of Wyoming and also similar State of Idaho agencies.
Scott is a native of Wyoming. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business/finance from the University of Wyoming in 1981, and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wyoming in 1985. He has worked as an Assistant Wyoming Attorney General and worked in other civil law practices in Jackson, Wyoming. Mr. Garland is a past President of the Teton County Bar Association (2002), and also served as Secretary and Treasurer of that Association. He has served on numerous local and State of Wyoming non-profit boards for groups such as the Wyoming Wildlife Federation, Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited, the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance, the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation, the Snake River Fund and the Center for Resolution.
